I’ve changed the plans on the art show. Instead of couples, I will be focusing on a series of recovery from addiction. The past several months have seen a remarkable change in my life, and I have begun to document this metamorphosis through paintings. So far I have three pieces completed; on the suggestion of my amazing friend Sarah, I will be creating a total of 12. This is the first time I have ever focused on such a personal subject in my art. It’s a bit frightening, a bit exciting, and completely freeing and amazing. Soon, I will take some photos and share a couple of the pieces here. I’m very eager to see how it will all turn out!
i’m currently working on a painting of Justin Beiber for my 11 year old daughter’s birthday present. I’m thinking, “you know, my mom never painted me a portrait of Corey Haim”. But I won’t hold that against her. She did give me life, and after all, I’m a forgiving person. And in the end, Corey Haim was a bit of a mess, wasn’t he?
In other news, I’m working on putting together an art show for the summer. So far, the two artists I’ve invited to participate have agreed to do so. I have one or two other people in mind to approach with the idea, and hopefully they’ll be on board as well. Now, to find a space for this show…
My plan is to do a series on couples. I’ll be taking photos of some of my friends who are all kinds of in love. Two couples are in so far, and I have another I’ll be asking soon. It occurred to me that although a large portion of my friends are gay, I don’t know many who are in relationships. The ones who are in them are in the long distance thing right now. I need some gay couples to paint! Come on, my gay friends, pair up already!
I really haven’t listened to enough Stevie Wonder recently. Don’t you think I should remedy that? Yes, I think so.
I’m just getting this blog off the ground, you’ll have to give me a minute to make it worth reading. I’ll post about my work and personal projects, ideas, and so on. Because this is linked to my cargo portfolio site, and because it’s not my “serious portfolio” (i do have one of those, actually), I’ll probably put personal stuff as well. But we’ll see.
